Choose the hole and explain the rules
Before your golf outing, decide which hole hosts the contest and which shots qualify. Tell players whether a shot must finish on the green, how the distance is measured and how ties are handled. Coordinate marker placement with the course.
Measure and record the closest qualifying shot
Use the same measuring method for each qualifying shot. A proximity marker records the leading golfer; it does not measure distance. Record the player’s name and any distance required by your event’s rules.
Keep the contest moving through the round
When a closer qualifying shot takes the lead, update the marker. Give each group clear instructions for checking the leader and reporting a change. Keep markers out of the way of play according to the course’s guidance.
Collect your markers and confirm the winner
At the end of play, collect the contest markers, confirm the result and announce the winner. Reusable ProximiTEES markers pack into a carrying pouch so the kit is ready for your next league night or charity tournament.
Common questions
What does closest to the pin mean?
It is a golf side contest that rewards the qualifying shot finishing nearest the hole. Your event sets the eligible shots and measurement rules.
What equipment should I bring?
Bring a way to record the leader, a pencil and the measuring tool chosen by your event. The ProximiTEES kit supplies reusable contest markers and clip-on pencils; measuring equipment is separate.
